Running towards

18th March 2026
So, today is a scheduled, slow, easy pace run before my secret half marathon on Sunday. Secret because it was supposed to be a 10k supporting race on the way to the Bristol half marathon in May, but for one reason or another (I’m a bit crap) I never sent my entry in for the 10k and now there are no places left. Rather than not do anything at all, I screwed up my courage and entered the half marathon at the same course, because I am a bit of an idiot.
The only saving grace I can muster is that I have not set myself a time goal. I have been advised that in any long race you should set yourself 3 targets. Goals A, B and C, with goal C being something *very* achievable such as ‘I just want to finish’. I had this tucked away for Bristol in May, push, standard, achievable. So, for Gloucester this weekend, my only goal is the achievable one. I have set a time, but my honest approach is that I just want to finish.
Wish me luck
